An asthma attack killed Casey Kressin after police stopped his girlfriend for speeding as she rushed him to the hospital.
Instead of escorting him to the hospital so that his life could be saved, police detained him for nearly 10 minutes. The ambulance finally arrived, but unfortunately, it was too late. Casey was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Chippewa Falls Police Chief Wendy Stelter says she stands by her officer, who followed protocol. “What the officer was thinking was that this man was sitting there and I am going to keep him calm until the ambulance arrives,” Stelter told WEAU-TV. “The officer feels that he did what he should have done and I support him in that, yet the family has lost a family member and that's sad.”
